The three books short listed for OBOK 2010 are:

  • In the Path of an Avalanche: A True Story" by Vivien Bowers - tells of the fate of six back country skiers in   Kokanee Glacier Park in the winter of 1998.
  • "Blue Valley: An Ecological Memoir" by Luanne Armstrong - tells of the deep attachment to the land and sense of place that author experienced growing up on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake.
  • "Treading Water" by Anne DeGrace - is a fictional account of a town created by settlers carving out a lifestyle and its decimation in the face of progress.
